This large freestanding bookcase was to be installed in an Edinburgh flat with tight access so we developed a fully dismountable interlocking shelf design which fits together without glue or visible fixings. The interlocking 'lap' joints between the shelves and uprights provide the structure which is held tight by brass screws through the cabinet back.
Honouring the stunning rippled grain figuration of the back panels of wide 'Quarter Sawn' British Ash, the piece is detailed as such that it could be used as a room divider in the future.
